New items for sale from Steve Torres and Shannon Young in our Etsy shop!

This is a mixed media piece of a mermaid painted on canvas in watercolor and adorned with 3D style embroidery by Shannon Young. The beautiful blue moon sculptural ashtray was hand cast in iron by Steve Torres. It has "Fe" cast on the inside as a reminder of how amazing it is to hand pour iron. The steampunk metal fabricated dragonflies were also created by Steve Torres and look very lovely in a garden! All of these items are for sale in our Etsy shop!

New art stuff...

I can never manage to get in bed before 2am. Ever. Maybe I was just built with robot parts that are programmed that way. Anyway, here are some pictures to show you what this robot has been doing:

I finished the chandelier and I really like how it turned out. It's about 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It's what I have been spending the majority of my time on. Well, that and trying to finish out the semester in general, hence my blogging absence lately. All of the images you see are embroidered, screen printed, or sewed. Now, like jay-z says, I'm on to the next one. There are going to be five total.

The sculpture is in terra cotta and not yet fired. It was my first attempt at working in ceramics and I have to admit that it was a challenge. It slightly resembles my little sister on purpose.

The brain is still a small part of a larger work in progress, but I figured I'd document the progression.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for checking it out, homies.

here's my newest art, friends.

hello everyone. thanks for taking a second to look at my new art endeavors. it's 3am and i'm exhausted, so i'll make this short and sweet. the first picture is of a necklace that I made for my good friend voodingi. it's her favorite stone, so I made a sterling silver holder for it that i strung a sterling cord through. i hope she likes it.

next is another embroidery idea i've been playing with. i like the idea of the screen printed dude throwing up all of the beautiful shiny things.

after that is my made up liar. it's a terra cotta face that i toyed around with after sculpting it in my figure sculpture class. after its first firing i sat down and painted the entire face with real make up, attached fake eyelashes and embroidered the predetermined holes i made in the face. i really like how it turned out although the pictures don't really do it justice. i need to figure out a way to seal it with the make up on it that won't be too shiny and distracting. i'm letting the make up dry tonight and see how it looks tomorrow. i'm pretty excited about this piece. it has been the instigator for a hundred new ideas. and for whatever reason ideas were just coming to me left and right today. i guess it was just one of those kinda wonderfully thoughtful days.

finally, here's a sneak peak at a brain i've been working on for another soft/metal sculpture. soft metal sculptures have kinda been my thing lately and i'm not mad about it. this is definitely a work in progress. more to come.

thanks for checking it out. have a lovely end to your week!

it's so beautiful outside.

i finished the fourth embroidery. i may do one or two final touch ups, but for the most part they're done and i'm pleased as pie. also, here are some iron medallions i've been working on since our last iron pour with Mill Street Studio and Master Craftsman Studio. there are three total: two unpainted and one black one. i gave these TRG medals to two of my amazing teammates on the Tallahassee Rollergirls, our local roller derby team. (tallyrg.com) Puertorrican Poison is sporting it the picture!

so check it: i slayed an art history test on the baroque era this morning, so i'm feelin like this weekend is starting out to be pretty excellent. hope yours is too!

these are a few of my favorite things

So, Here are four collaboration embroideries I've been working on for a while designed by my good friend, Lee Bretschneider. You can check out his awesome work at adventuringcompany.com! He drew the basic image and I took off embroidering from there. He's working on a website for me right now that I'm EXTREMELY excited about. Stay tuned for more on that from my future self. The scarf is just something to keep my hands busy. It's a knit 4, perl 4, four line alternating pattern. Pretty simple, but fun checkers. It's easily become my favorite pattern to zone out to while knitting. I have a bad habit of daydreaming and I very quickly lose track of stitches on the regular.
